We are curious about the possibilities of a nonlinear investigation towards a contemporary contextual identity on the continent of Africa and more specifically in Western African states.
We feel as though we are in the future even though we kept getting told we are in the past.
We identify the potential in something uninterrupted. A series of moments and spaces from the future of our past.
We search for the space and time that creates the moment…for the object to arise. This does not exist for a comparative study of ‘designed making’ but is personal and contextual, based on the physical, psychological and the material.
‘So who are they? The ones who forge ahead, carved from the iroko. The ones who tell us the valiant tales. Who seek to alight fears, bring hope, dry tears.
We see our past, present and future through etched stories. They are past future, where the wind takes words, beyond reason, illuminated…beyond the horizon.’
